After years of tending texts written by overworked journalists, I’ve come to specialise in making sure articles of all kinds hit just the right notes. From languorous features to punchy news items, I can help reframe, refashion or simply proofread.
A previous life – and professor parents – gave me experience with academic writing. The canard that the quality of the content always trumps the quality of the prose is less true now than ever: good writing gets published more frequently than bad writing, even in academic journals. I enjoy diving into a topic in the humanities or social sciences and helping find the most elegant way to express an idea or analysis.
I especially enjoy working with academics who are writing for the general public, whether it is wall texts for museums and galleries or essays connecting research with a timely event.
I frequent both British and American English and can also tune texts to the needs of non-native speakers.
